Everyman’s rights

Finland’s unique public right of access, known as Everyman’s rights, means everyone has the right to roam freely around the countryside. Tourists may also pick lingonberries from privately owned land without the landowners’ permission. It is not however permitted to cause damage to the surroundings or to litter.
